Desert and dessert is just confusion caused by spelling.
Once you get them straightened out, you wont be confused any more.
A trick is to learn only one of them and you will technically learn the other.
A desert (noun), pronounced des-ert,
is a hot and dry place with nothing but the sun and sand.
For example:
What would you bring if you were to spend one year alone in a desert?
This place is hot like a desert.
The pyramids were built in the middle of a desert.
Camels are good transport in a desert.
Desert, pronounced de-zurt, can be
a verb. It means to leave or abandon something.
This place is deserted and run-down.
She fled and deserted her two kids in her mothers care.
It can also be used as an adjective. A desert island
is an isolated island with no inhabitants.
Dessert, pronounced de-zurt, is a
sweet dish that you eat after a meal. Puddings, cakes, and
ice cream are desserts.
For example:
Chocolate cake is my favorite dessert.
Does anyone want dessert after dinner?
Mary is making dessert.
Note :
A desert is hot but a dessert is sweet.
