Fare, fee and fine all concern money. They all begin with an f.
They are different kind of money though.
A fare is money you pay for your transportation.
For example, when you get on the bus, you have to pay a bus fare.
There are also taxi fares, airfares,
and boat fares.
A fee is money paid for services.
For example, we pay admission fees to enter places such as
museums, movies, and some tourist attractions. Besides admission fees,
there are also tuition fee,
maintenance fee, subscription and
membership fee.
A fine is money paid when you do something wrong.
It is paid as penalty. If you litter in public, you will have to pay up to 2000 baht fine.
If you smoke on the bus, the fine is 500 baht, I think. If you dont stop at the red light,
you will have to pay the fine. That is if you are caught.
Fine can be a verb. To fine someone is to punish someone by making him/her pay for
violating laws.
