At the end (of something) is the time when something ends.
The opposite of at the end is at the beginning.
For example:
At the end of the month, especially on the last Friday, the traffic in Bangkok is very heavy.
At the end of the movie, they played my favorite song.
Henry is going to Europe at the end of April.
Students have to prepare themselves for the exam at the end of the semester.
The interviewee is allowed to ask questions at the end of the interview.
In the end means finally. We use it to describe the final
outcome of something. The opposite of in the end is at first..
Paul and Joan had had a lot of heated arguments. In the end, they got divorced.
I tried to learn Japanese, but it was too difficult for me. In the end, I gave up.
We could not decide where to go on our vacation. In the end, we ended up staying at home.
Joe was fed up with his routine job and his strict boss. In the end, he quit.
At first Helen didn't want to go to the movie, but she came with us in the end.
