It's a matter of taste. But what taste? Tasteful and tasty
are both adjectives to do with taste. However,
we use tasteful with a person or other objects while
tasty is used restrictively with food.
For example:
Cindy always dresses well; she's a tasteful person.
The curtains are quite tasteful.
Henry is tasteful in selecting furniture.
This soup is very tasty.
It has been a long time since I tasted such a tasty meal.
The opposite of tasty is tasteless.
It means not delicious.
For example:
This pizza is tasteless like a cardboard.
The service in this restaurant is excellent, but the food is tasteless.

Tasteful (adj.) having good taste
Tasty (adj.) delicious
