On Khaosan Road...
If you want to go shopping, take a stroll, meet friends, get something
to eat and maybe put your English to the test; you can do all of the
above at once, and more, On Khao San Road.
Khao San Road is a microcosm of its kind. The world is no longer restricted
to backpackers as the area is known to be. In recent years, the Thais
have reclaimed this land. Business makers have moved in. Youngsters
find a fashionable place to hang. How can we not join them?
On Khao San Road is our new English Language teaching column. It presents
everyday English, built around a day-to-day topic such as ordering
food, asking for directions, making a bargain. It evens takes on controversial
issues such as drug, drunkenness, homosexuality and prostitution.
