Who said you cant learn anything from game shows?
I did. In fact, The Weakest Link with Anne Robinson is the only show I watch.
I learn a lot of the English culture, such as what sort of questions get asked.
I also learn some new expressions as well.
One time, the question was along the line of In the English language,
when you refuse to speak to someone, you are said to have sent them to which town?
I find most of the questions cryptic, and so is this one. The answer is Coventry.
I know vaguely where Coventry is and know that theres not much in the town.
Its worse than Nottingham. Its a no-man land.

To send someone to Coventry means to excommunicate them,
not to speak to them. Its a childish thing, something you would do when you are in elementary school.
I find this expression quite suitable, to the place I mean.
There is nothing interesting in the place,
except that it was bombed down to the ground during the second-world war. |

I only asked Simon what was there in Coventry,
and he said not very much. He suspected that I was writing my diary again,
so he suggested I look it up on the Internet. There is bound to be an explanation of why Coventry,
he said. But I turned my nose up. Why would I want to repeat someones words on the Internet.
I would rather make my own guesses. |
