I asked Tang-O today whether she
would be interested in a part time job
in a Thai restaurant with cultural dances
for tourist. She had mentioned to me
before that she would like to earn some
money. She and Jieb came into my office
to talk. After taking workshop, we just chat.
I showed them some of the quotations
I collect and poems I wrote. We also
talked about literature and part time jobs.
They figured out why people often write
long letters to me. It's because I have
a way with my words. They just attract
people. You might disagree, but will you
just let me finish? Well, I'm quite poetic
and playful. However, that's just what
Jieb and Tang-O said. I don't think the
guys write to me because I write well.
They just write. I guess I select topics
well. I will say something that need further
discussion or choose a topic that people
want to say something about it. Besides,
I believe in a quote that "A man falls in
love through his eyes, but a woman falls
in love through her ears." I'm not implying
that I'm good-looking. The girls think what
I wrote was clever and romantic because
they are girls. Boys might not agree.

วันนี้ฉันถามตั้งโอ๋ว่าสนใจจะทำงานพิเศษในร้านอาหาร
ไทยที่มีการแสดงวัฒนธรรมให้ฝรั่งชมไหม เขาเคยบอกว่า
อยากหางานพิเศษทำ เขากับเจี๊ยบแวะมาคุยที่ห้องทำ
งานฉัน หลังจากคุยเรื่องงานเสร็จ เราก็คุยเล่นกัน ฉันให้
พวกเขาดู คำพูดคมๆ ที่ฉันจดไว้และกลอนที่ฉันเขียน
เราคุยกันเรื่องวรรณคดีและงานพิเศษ เขาบอกว่าเข้าใจ
แล้วว่าทำไมพวกหนุ่มๆ ถึงเขียนจดหมายมาหาฉันยาวๆ
และบ่อยๆ เพราะว่าฉันคารมดีนี่เอง คำพูดฉันติดใจคน
เธออาจจะไม่เห็นด้วยก็ได้ แต่ฟังฉันให้จบก่อน ฉันเจ้าบท
เจ้ากลอนเป็นเหมือนกันนะ แถมขี้เล่นอีกต่างหาก แต่
อย่างไรก็ตาม นั่นเป็นแค่สิ่งที่เจี๊ยบกับตั้งโอ๋พูด ฉันไม่คิด
ว่าพวกหนุ่มๆ เขียนมาหาฉันเพราะว่าฉันเขียนเก่งหรอก
เขาแค่เขียนมาเฉยๆ ฉันเดาเอาว่าฉันคงเลือกหัวข้อ
สนทนาดี ฉันเล่าเรื่องที่คุยกันต่อได้ หรือเลือกเรื่องที่คน
อยากจะพูดอะไรต่อ นอกจากนนี้ฉันเชื่อคำกล่าวที่ว่า
"ผู้ชายตกหลุมรักผ่านตาส่วนผู้หญิงตกหลุมรักผ่านหู"
ฉันไม่ได้จะบอกว่าฉันหน้าตาดีหรอกนะ สาวๆ คิดว่าสิ่งที่
ฉันเขียนนั้นคมและออกจะหวาน ส่วนหนุ่มๆ อาจไม่เห็น
ด้วย เอาไว้ให้ฉันถามพวกเขาก่อนแล้วจะมาบอกเธอแล้ว

Job has completed our web site.
He scanned our photos on the barge
onto the page. They are really cool.
We also have a guest book, message
board and chat room. The kids plan
on writing up life on the barge, journal
and records of places we visited.
I volunteer to be the editor, but so far
no one has submitted his/her manuscript.
They are busy with their school work.
I won't mind writing a column myself,
but they need to tell me what my part
will be. I tried to chat but no one logged
in at the same time. I don't know the time
difference. Maybe it's not the right time
for the American kids. Besides, this
home page is new. They might not
have found out yet.
