Last night I had a nightmare. I dreamed that
the cocktail dress I bought for the party tonight
was too small. In other words, I got fatter over
night and it didn't fit me. Hey, it's a living nightmare
for me. Think about it. I have this fancy cocktail
party wedding reception at the Dusit Thanee.
It's not my wedding-but oh well, I'm not that
unlucky yet. This gorgeous dress, which
I spent a fortune on and which I will never
wear again for the second time unless there
is a party with a different group of people,
shrank over night. I didn't have time to buy
a new one and this meant Cinderella could
not go to the ball! That's not the worst part.
The worst part is that Sleeping Beauty got up
and realized that she's fat. Pardon me.
I need to use that 'f' word-fat! |

เมื่อคืนก่อนฉันฝันร้าย ฉันฝันว่าชุดราตรีของฉันเล็กเกินไป
จะพูดอีกอย่างก็คือ ฉันอ้วนขึ้นในเวลาชั่วคืนเดียว
แล้วก็ใส่ชุดไม่ได้ นี่เป็นเรื่องเลวร้ายมากสำหรับฉันนะ
ลองคิดดูสิ ฉันต้องไปงานเลี้ยงคอกเทลที่โรงแรมดุสิตธานี
มันไม่ใช่งานแต่งงานของฉันหรอกเพราะฉันยังไม่ซวยขนาดนั้น
ชุดที่ฉันซื้อมาในราคาแพงลิ่วและคงไม่มีโอกาสได้ใส่อีก
เป็นครั้งที่สอง นอกเสียจากว่าจะไปงานเลี้ยง กับเพื่อนกลุ่มอื่น
เกิดหดขึ้นมาในระยะเวลาเพียงข้ามคืน
ฉันไม่มีเวลาไปซื้อชุดใหม่ซึ่งหมายความว่าซินเดอร์เรลล่า
อดไปงานบอล แต่นั่นไม่ใช่ตอนที่แย่ที่สุด ที่เลวร้ายที่สุดก็คือ
เจ้าหญิงนิทราตื่นขึ้นมาจากความฝันก็พบว่าตัวเองอ้วนจริงๆ
ต้องขออภัยที่ฉันต้องใช้คำว่าอ้วน ซึ่งเป็นคำที่หยาบคายมาก

| After I had a shower, the first thing I did this morning
was to try my dress to make sure. If the nightmare
came true, at least I had time to buy a new dress.
Weight is a sensitive issue for women. I've gained
four inches around my waist over the past 3 months.
My waistline is now 30! Don't tell me I'm just
being paranoid. |

หลังอาบน้ำเสร็จ สิ่งแรกที่ฉันทำคือเอาชุดมาลองเพื่อให้แน่ใจ
อย่างน้อยฉันจะได้มีเวลาไปซื้อชุดใหม่หากฝันร้ายกลายเป็นจริง
ขึ้นมา เรื่องน้ำหนักเป็นเรื่องใหญ่มากสำหรับผู้หญิง ฉันอ้วนขึ้น
ตั้ง 4 นิ้ว ในช่วงสามเดือนที่ผ่านมา ตอนนี้เอวฉัน 30 แล้วนะจ๊ะ
จะหาว่าฉันกังวลเกินกว่าเหตุได้อย่างไร

| I hadn't been to many wedding receptions,
but this one was definitely my favorite.
At first I thought I would have to be among
stiff red necks and that was true. But the
bride and the groom were sweet.
They have a lot in common: they both
got their Ph.D. from the States, both teachers,
both musicians, and both from a 'big' family background.
Those things do not make them perfect match.
They 're both nice and easy-going despite
of the family names-that's what makes them
perfect together. They played two songs for
the guests: the Greatest Love of All and
Can't Take My Eyes off You. The latter is my favorite.
They gave the party a personal touch.
Let me just conclude that the wedding
was impressive and that's an understatement. |

ฉันไม่ค่อยได้ไปงานแต่งงานบ่อยนักหรอก
แต่งานนี้เป็นงานที่น่าประทับใจที่สุด ตอนแรกฉันคิดว่าฉัน
จะต้องไปอยู่ในหมู่ผู้ดีคอแข็งซึ่งก็เป็นเช่นนั้นจริงๆ
แต่คู่บ่าวสาวน่ารักมาก เขามีอะไรหลายอย่างที่เหมือนกัน
เขาเรียนจบปริญญาเอกจากอเมริกาทั้งคู่ เป็นครูทั้งคู่
เป็นนักดนตรีทั้งคู่ แล้วก็มาจากครอบครัว "ใหญ่" ทั้งคู่
แต่สิ่งเหล่านี้ไม่ได้ทำให้เขาเหมาะกัน การที่เขาทั้งสองเป็นคนง่ายๆ
เหมือนกันต่างหากที่ทำให้เขาเหมาะสมกันมาก
เขาเล่นดนตรีให้แขกในงานฟัง 2 เพลง
คือ เพลง the Greatest Love of All
และCan't Take My Eyes off You เพลงหลังนี่
เป็นเพลงโปรดของฉันเลยนะ มันทำให้งานดูเป็นกันเองขึ้นเยอะเลย
ขอสรุปเพียงว่าเป็นงานแต่งงานที่น่าประทับใจมากทีเดียว
