There are so many confusing things in the differences of
the English and American version of the language.
The same word in one version can mean totally different in the other.
Types of school are also confusing.
As you know, there are government-run schools and privately own schools,
which we call public and private schools in American English.
Private schools are usually more posh because you have
to pay high fees and everybody wants to send their kids there,
so it is quite competitive to get in as well. This is unlike private schools in
Thailand where most public schools are more prestigious.
You only have to pay when you cant get into one of them.

มีเรื่องน่างงมากมายเกี่ยวกับ
ความแตกต่างระหว่างภาษาอังกฤษแบบอังกฤษ
และอเมริกัน คำๆ เดียวกันอาจมีความหมายต่างกันโดยสิ้นเชิง
ประเภทของโรงเรียนเป็นอีกหัวข้อหนึ่ง ที่น่างง
อย่างที่เรารู้กันว่ามีโรงเรียนอยู่สองประเภท
โรงเรียนรัฐบาลและโรงเรียนเอกชน หรือที่เขาเรียกกันว่า พับบลิกและ ไพรเวทสคูล
ในภาษาอังกฤษแบบอเมริกัน โรงเรียนเอกชนมักจะฟังดูเก๋กว่าเพราะว่าเรา
ต้องเสียค่าเล่าเรียนสูง และทุกคนก็อยากให้ลูกไปเรียนโรงเรียนเอกชน
ดังนั้นการแข่งขันก็ค่อนข้างสูงด้วย นี่ไม่เหมือนโรงเรียนเอกชนในเมืองไทยหรอกนะคะ
เพราะว่าโรงเรียนรัฐบาลมีภาษีดีกว่า
เราต้องเสียค่าเล่าเรียนแพงกว่าก็ต่อเมื่อเข้าโรงเรียนรัฐบาลไม่ได้ |

In England, public schools are more prestigious because
you have got to be rich and intelligent or have powerful
parents to be able to get in. But the English public schools are
the American private schools. Their public schools are called state school.
It doesnt matter if you go to an American or English public school
because they are both good. In fact, if you say that you went to the English public school,
people tend to keep a distance from you. It also makes you sound like a spoil kid.

ในประเทศอังกฤษ โรงเรียนแบบที่เขาเรียกว่า พับบลิกสคูลมีระดับกว่าเพราะว่า
ต้องรวยและฉลาดหรือว่าพ่อแม่มีหน้าตาจึงจะเข้าได้ แต่พับบลิกสคูลของอังกฤษ
คือโรงเรียนเอกชนแบบที่คนอเมริกันเรียกว่าไพรเวทสคูล
ส่วนโรงเรียนรัฐบาลของอังกฤษ เขาเรียกกันว่า สเตทสคูล
มันไม่สำคัญหรอกว่าคุณไปโรงเรียนพับบลิกสคูลแบบอังกฤษหรืออเมริกัน
เพราะว่ามันก็ดีเหมือนกันนั่นแหละ
แต่ที่จริงแล้ว หากคูณบอกว่าคุณไปเรียนที่พับบลิกสคูลแบบอังกฤษ
คนเขาจะหมั่นไส้เอา มันจะทำให้คุณฟังดูเหมือนเป็นเด็กนิสัยเสียด้วย |
