I was telling about my visits to embassies.
So I will just continue. If you miss that, you
can go back and read my previous entry first.
It might be helpful for people (who will be) in the
same position as I was.

ฉันได้เล่าให้ฟังถึงการไปติดต่อสถานฑูตให้เธอฟังค้างไว้
ฉันจะเล่าต่อหน่ะนะ ถ้าเธอไม่ทันได้อ่าน ก็กลับไปปูพื้น
ก่อนนะ มันอาจจะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อคนที่อยู่ใน
สถานการณ์เดียวกันก็ได้

I got to the Japanese embassy at 8.10. I was twenty
minutes early. When I got off the lift, I saw that there
was already a line of about 8 people in front of the
entrance. The guard let us in early and I got the number 3
on my queue card. I can swear that I spent five minutes
going to the whole process. They called my number,
checked my document and gave me the slip to pick up
my passport in the next two days. I was surprised.
Was that it? Could I go? They didn't ask me any question.
I didn't even have to pay then. And when I picked up my
passport, it was one minute. As soon as I punch in the
queue card, my number was called. And when
I approached the window, my passport was there as if
it had been there waiting. I paid and left.

ฉันไปถึงสถานฑูตญี่ปุ่นตอนแปดโมงสิบนาที เร็วไปยี่สิบ
นาที พอออกมาจากลิฟท์ก็เห็นว่ามีคนเข้าแถวรออยู่หน้า
ทางเข้าแล้วประมาณแปดคน ยามให้เราเข้าไปรอข้างใน
ได้ก่อนเวลา และฉันได้บัตรรอหมายเลขสาม ฉันสาบาน
ได้ว่าฉันใช้เวลาแค่ห้านาทีในการทำขั้นตอนทั้งหมด ถึง
ตาฉันเขาก็เรียก ตรวจเอกสารฉันแล้วก็ให้บัตรมารับ
พาสปอร์ตคืนอีกสองวัน ฉันงงมากเลย อะไรกันนี่ ฉันกลับ
ได้แล้วหรือ เขาไม่เห็นถามอะไรฉันเลย ฉันยังไม่ได้จ่าย
เงินเลย และตอนที่ฉันไปรับพาสปอร์ตคืน ก็ใช้เวลาแค่
หนึ่งนาที พอฉันกดบัตรคิวปุ๊บ เขาก็เรียก พอฉันเดินไปที่
หน้าต่าง เขาก็ยื่นพาสปอร์ตให้ฉันเหมือนกับว่าเขาเตรียม
รอไว้อยู่แล้ว ฉันจ่ายค่าธรรมเนียมแล้วก็กลับ

The visit to the British embassy was rather long
and boring. It took all morning of inactivity.
I got there late. I must admit that. I got there
at almost 9. I lined up to get my document screened.
I filled out the application form in line to save time.
You are not supposed to do that though. You should
have it ready before queuing. I didn't see any
take-a-number machine. Anyway, after that
I got a number from an officer who checked
my document and waited to be called. I didn't know
what I was doing or what I was waiting for.
When they called my number, I handed in my
document again and waited. Then they called
me again to pay the fee and collect the pickup voucher.
My morning session ended a little before noon
and I had to be back at 3 to pick up my passport.
It sounds easy enough but just imagine almost 3 hours
of waiting for Godo with two walks to the windows.
Fortunately, I had a good book with me.

การติดต่อสถานฑูตอังกฤษใช้เวลานานและน่าเบื่อ

The trip to the American embassy was rather stressful for me.
I tried to go once years ago but the idea of rejection
kept me from it. I was planning to pop on by America from
Canada. Anyway, this time I said to myself that I didn't
really want to go to America anyway. I would let the
visa make decisions for me. I got there at 8.30 and
found out that it would close at 9 and that I had to
pay 45 dollars for the fee at a post office and attach
the receipt to the application form. I hired a motorcycle
taxi to run the errand for me while I fill out the form.
I finally got in at 9 and submitted my paper.
The lady told me to come the next day in the afternoon
to 'find out'. So I could never be sure until I 'find out'.
The way they work is rather unfriendly but I have to
say that they are efficient. I didn't have to wait really long.

การไปสถานฑูตอเมริกันค่อนข้างเครียดสำหรับฉัน ฉัน

กับใบสมัคร ฉันจ้างให้มอเตอร์ไซด์รับจ้างไปทำเรื่องให้ฉัน

I got all the visas I applied for. You must think
that I'm setting off for a world tour. Not quite.
Just a hop over. After being to all these embassies,
I have to say that the Japanese was the best because
they were fast and efficient. I guess you have got to
bring the right and sufficient document. That means
bring everything in case they ask. But nobody ever
asked me for any additional paper. Still, better safe than sorry.

ฉันได้วีซ่าทุกที่ที่ฉันขอ เธออาจจะเดาว่าฉันกำลังวางแผน
เที่ยวรอบโลก ก็ไม่เชิงหรอก แค่กระโดดข้ามๆ เอา หลัง
จากที่ไปสถานฑูตพวกนี้มาฉันต้องขอสรุปว่าสถานฑูต
ญี่ปุ่นดีที่สุดเพราะเขาทำงานเร็วและมีประสิทธิภาพ ฉัน
เดาเอาว่าเธอต้องเอาเอกสารที่ถูกต้องและพอเพียงมา ซึ่ง
หมายความว่าเอามาทุกอย่างเผื่อว่าเขาจะขอดู แต่ไม่
เห็นมีใครขอดูอะไรของฉันเลย แต่เผื่อไว้ก่อนแหละดี จะ
ได้ไม่ต้องเสียใจทีหลัง

My experience is not to cancel all the embassy
legends you have heard over the year.
This is just my experience. I heard people around
all embassies talk about their trouble and how they
ridiculously got refused entry to the countries.
