The summer comes with peace in the library. At the end of last month, there were a thousand of
students thronging the library all day all night. Now they are gone, as in magic. I can find all the books I want,
and nobody bothers me talking in the library. Its unbelievable. |

หน้าร้อนพัดพาเอาความสงบมาสู่ห้องสมุด
เมื่อสิ้นเดือนที่ผ่านมานี้ยังเต็มไปด้วยนักเรียนนับหมื่นนับแสนทั้งวันทั้งคืน มาบัดนี้หายกันไปหมดราวกับอาถรรพ์
ฉันหาหนังสือที่ฉันอยากจะอ่านเจอ และไม่มีใครมาคุยให้รำคาญหูในห้องสมุด ไม่น่าเชื่อเลย

This is the time for summer break for the undergraduate students. Most of them do not go to
universities in their hometown. They all find an opportunity to leave home and come to live in a university hall.
Now they have either gone home or gone on vacation, leaving me to my due peace. |

ตอนนี้เป็นช่วงปิดเทอมหน้าร้อนของพวกนักเรียนปริญญาตรี ส่วนใหญ่ไม่นิยมเรียนในมหาวิทยาลัยใกล้บ้าน
ชอบหาข้ออ้างออกจากบ้านมาอยู่หอของมหาวิทยาลัย ตอนนี้พวกเขาก็พากันกลับบ้านไป หรือไม่ก็ไปเที่ยวที่ไหนสักแห่ง
ปล่อยให้ฉันได้อยู่อย่างสงบอย่างที่มันควรจะเป็น

The photocopy machines are not busy. The canteen is not crowded. Not that I eat there, but I need
peace over my coffee too. Postgrads are left alone to do their work.

เครื่องถ่ายเอกสารแทบไม่มีใครใช้บริการ โรงอาหารก็ว่าง ที่จริงฉันไม่ได้ทานอาหารที่นั่นหรอก
เพียงแต่ฉันก็ต้องการความสงบในขณะนั่งดื่มกาแฟบ้างเท่านั้น มีแต่นักเรียนระดับปริญญาโทขึ้นไปเท่านั้นที่ยังคงเหลืออยู่

In a way, its quite lonely as well. The university is empty and we are the small group left working hard
throughout the summer. Life is not so fair.

แต่คิดดูอีกทีก็เหงาพิกล มหาวิทยาลับช่างโล่ง
และพวกเราเป็นคนกลุ่มน้อยที่ต้องมุ่งหน้าทำงานหนักตลอดช่วงฤดูร้อน ชีวิตช่างไม่ยุติธรรมเลย
