Today it was very warm here in Nottingham and the Brits just went bananas.
They tore off their clothes and lay around on the grass under the sun like
mad dogs. Not really. I was exaggerating. But I truly think that they are crazy.
They hardly ever have a warm day, so when it is they have to take the most
advantage of it. Many people wear sleeveless shirts and shorts. How can I
make you get the picture? Many girls show off their arms, chests, and belly
buttons on big massive fat. They are not entirely thin, but they decide to
reveal their bodies. People take out their sunglasses. Bars and restaurants
put their tables outside and they are quite crowded as I walked home.
Some guys wear cheap looking T-shirts, shorts and sandals. They sunbathe on
the grass around the university and anywhere possible. Some read, some
take a nap, some cuddle with partners in the open air. It is really offensive to my sensitive eyes. |

วันนี้ร้อนหน่อยในเมืองนอตติ้งแฮมแห่งนี้ และชาวอังกฤษทั้งหลายต่างพากันเสียสติกันไปหมด
เขาฉีกเสื้อผ้าออกแล้วล้มกลิ้งลงไปนอนบนพื้นหญ้า ภายใต้แสงอาทิตย์สาดส่องเหมือนสุนัขบ้า ไม่ถึงขนาดนั้นหรอก
ฉันก็พูดเวอร์ไป แต่ฉันคิดว่าคนพวกนี้บ้าจริง ๆ นะ พวกเขาไม่เคยได้เห็นเดือนเห็นตะวัน
ไม่เคยได้อุ่น พออุ่นขึ้นมาหน่อยก็ฉวยโอกาสที่มีอันน้อยนิด หลายคนใส่เสื้อแขนกุดกับกางเกงขาสั้น
ฉันจะเล่าให้เธอเห็นภาพได้อย่างไรนะ พวกผู้หญิงพากันประกวดแขน หน้าอก
และสะดือหลามกลางพุงไขมันใหญ่โต พวกเขาไม่ผอมเลยแม้แต่นิดแต่ใจกล้า (หน้าด้าน)
อวดสรีระ คนควักเอาแว่นกันแดดมาใส่ ร้านบาร์และร้านอาหารนำโต๊ะออกมาตั้งนอกร้าน
ตอนฉันเดินผ่านมาเห็นคนนั่งเต็มไปหมด ผู้ชายบางคนใส่เสื้อยืดมอซอ กางเกงขาสั้น
รองเท้าแตะ พวกเขาอาบแดดกันอยู่บนสนามหญ้าตามมหาลัย และตามซอกต่างๆ
ที่เป็นไปได้ บางคนอ่านหนังสือ บ้างงีบหลับ บ้างก็นัวเนียกับแฟน ฉันดูแล้วเคืองตาอันบอบบางของฉันมาก |

You know that I'm not at all traditional, but I find all this a bit too much. What is the
fuss over a warm day? I think it was 20 degree. Not that hot, really.
People here rarely see a warm day, so they got really excited. Who knows?
Tomorrow might be rainy and miserable again. In a way, I feel sorry for
them that they have to suffer from bad weather all year and now they are
enjoying the sun for the first time in months and get criticized by me,
someone from a city where it's probably 38-40 degrees now and stays above 25 all year round. |

ฉันคิดว่าคงประมาณยี่สิบองศาได้มั้ง ไม่ได้ร้อนมากขนาดนั้นสักหน่อย คนที่นี่ไม่ค่อยได้เห็นวันที่อบอุ่น
เลยตื่นเต้นกันใหญ่ ใครจะไปรู้พรุ่งนี้ฝนอาจจะตกทำเอาหงอยกันไปทั้งเมืองก็ได้ คิดอีกที
ฉันก็สงสารคนพวกนี้นะที่ต้องทนทรมานกับอากาศหนาวตลอดปี พอได้เอนจอยแดดออกครั้งแรกในรอบหลายเดือน
ก็กลับมีพวกปากหอกปากปูมากระแนะกระแหน พวกที่มาจากเมืองที่ร้อนประมาณ 38-40 ได้กระมัง
และร้อนอยู่อย่างนั้น อุณหภูมิไม่เคยต่ำกว่า 25 เสียที |

In Bangkok, people like to hide out from the sun and avoid it as much as
possible. Even though I have suffered from the cold winter here as well,
I'm not yet ready to forget that there is plenty of sun to avoid back at home. |
