My three colleagues and I are in Hong Kong
for 4 days for a conference. Today is our first
day here and it's my first time in Hong Kong.
I mean outside the airport. I was here once in
transit to Canada years ago. My impression
of it then was not good. I looked out the airport
and saw nothing but rain clouds. The airport was
filled with loud and busy people. It was difficult for
a 16-year-old to take.

ฉันกับเพื่อนร่วมงานอีกสามคนไปสัมมนาที่ฮ่องกงเป็น
เวลาสี่วัน วันนี้เป็นวันแรกและเป็นครั้งแรกที่ฉันมาฮ่องกง
ฉันหมายถึงออกมานอกสนามบินฮ่องกง ฉันเคยมาแวะ
พักเครื่องที่ฮ่องกงแล้วตอนที่ฉันเดินทางไปแคนาดาเมื่อ
หลายปีก่อน ความรู้สึกฉันที่มีต่อฮ่องกงในตอนนั้นไม่ดี
เลย ฉันมองออกไปนอกสนามบินแล้วไม่เห็นอะไรเลยนอก
จากเมฆฝน สนามบินก็เต็มไปด้วยคนเสียงดังจอแจไป
หมด มันยากเกินกว่าที่เด็กอายุสิบหกปีจะรับไหว

Hong Kong is shoppers' paradise. Shops
stay open until as late as 11.30. My friends
are quite some shoppers. As expected, two
of my Chinese-looking friends are mistaken
as locals. And I am thought of as a Philippino here.

ฮ่องกงเป็นสวรรค์ของนักช็อป ร้างต่างๆ เปิดจนดึกถึง ห้า
ทุ่มครึ่ง เพื่อนของฉันก็ช็อปเก่งไม่เบา และอย่างที่เรานึกไว้
เพื่อนสองคนที่หน้าจีนหน่อยถูกทึกทักเอาว่าเป็นคน
ฮ่องกง ส่วนฉันก็กลายเป็นคนฟิลิปปินส์ไป

We walked quite a bit. We walked to the
Discovery Bay and along the promenade.
The scenery was pretty with all the lights,
advertising some big companies such
as Phillip, Siemen, and Sumsung on top
of buildings on the Hong Kong side.

เราเดินกันนานเหมือนกัน เราเดินไปตามดิสคอเวอร์รี่เบย์
และทางเดินริมน้ำ วิวสวยมาก โดยเฉพาะตอนที่เขาเปิด
ไฟตามตึกโฆษณาของบริษัทยักษ์ใหญ่ต่างๆ เช่น ฟิลลิป
ซีเมนส์ และซัมซุง บนตึกต่างๆ บนฝั่งฮ่องกง

The promenade was probably the most romantic
one I've seen so far. Let's face it. I haven't seen
that many. Lovers sat under lamp lights, talking
and cuddling. I wish I had a partner too.

ทางเดินริมน้ำนับได้ว่าเป็นทางเดินที่โรแมนติกที่สุดเท่าที่
ฉันเคยเห็นมา แต่ที่จริงฉันก็ไม่ได้เห็นหลายที่นักหรอก คู่
รักพากันมานั่งใต้เสาไฟคุยกระหนุงกระหนิง บ้างก็กอด
รัดฟัดเหวี่ยงกัน ทำให้ฉันอยากมีคู่บ้างจัง

We went to the Regent for a look. A friend said
we got to go there. It's right on the river and view
is extraordinary. However, we were not dressed
for the place, so we might come for a coffee
tomorrow after the conference and when we
are better dressed. It has been a fun day.

เราเดินไปเที่ยวที่โรงแรมรีเจ้นท์ เพื่อนฉันคงหนึ่งบอกว่า
เราต้องไม่พลาด มันอยู่ติดกับแม่น้ำเลย และวิวสวยมาก
แต่พวกเราแต่งตัวไม่เหมาะกาละเทศะจะไปรีเจ้นท์ เราจึง
อาจกลับมาใหม่ เพื่อกินกาแฟกัน หลังสัมมนาเสร็จในวัน
พรุ่งนี้ ในวันที่เราจะแต่งตัวดีกว่านี้ วันนี้เราสนุกมากจริงๆ
