Besides congratulating someone on his/her achievements, you can also send a note
or letter of congratulations on special occasion; for instance, engagement, wedding, anniversary,
new home, or retirement.
Similar to the letter of congratulations, which we covered last week,
first you should state the reason why are writing the letter; i.e., stating the occasion you wish
to congratulate the recipient on. Then you can offer your congratulations. Finally,
end with kind words of friendship or consideration.
Dear Nick and Carol,
I heard that this Monday 5 January will mark your 35th wedding anniversary,
and I wish to congratulate you on your everlasting marriage. You give hope to all of us that true love does exist.
Truly yours,
Jack O’Niel

The letter of congratulations might be in reply to an invitation or an announcement.
Dear Mr. Simpson.
Thank you for inviting us to your house-warming party on next Sunday.
My wife and I would very much love to join you in celebrating your new home.
We look forward to seeing you next week.
May we also take this opportunity to wish you much happiness and prosperity as you start a new life in your
new home.
Sincerely yours,
Lynn Stewarts
