When you have decided to quit your job, whatever the reasons, you need to hand in a resignation letter.
This is not just a matter of courtesy. It is required by law that you give your employer advance notice.
This is another difficult letter to write well. Therefore, you would
like to keep it short and to the point. You will need to include the effective
date of your resignation, an explanation for resigning and a brief positive
comment about the company. Many people think the explanation and brief
comment is not necessary. They are right, but it would be great if you
could give them as this is to maintain good relationship with your former
employer.
Here is an example:
Dear Mr.
Brown, Please accept this
letter as my formal notice of resignation from AMI Corporation,
effective 27 February 2004.
Thank you very much for the opportunity to work here. I wish you
continued success in the future.
Sincerely,
(Signed)

In announcing your resignation, you may use one of these expressions:
I hereby tender my formal resignation from the position of…. at ….(company's name).
With this letter, I hereby give you one-month notice of my employment termination.
Please accept this letter as my notice of resignation, effective….. (date).
This is to formally notify you of my resignation. …. (date) will be my last day of working here.
It is with great reluctance I submit my resignation, effective… (date).
You may want to give an explanation for your resignation though this is not necessary.
I have decided to take this time to evaluate my current goals
and investigate new opportunities.
I have decided to change the course of my current career goals and will be pursuing a
new direction in tourism.
I have decided to further my education in pursuit of Masters Degree in Management.
Then end your letter with positive comments.
It has been my genuine pleasure to work for ABC Company.
I have enjoyed working with ABC.
I will miss my colleagues here.
I wish you and ABC Company continued success in all your endeavors.
Thank you for allowing me to serve ABC Company.
Thank you very much for the opportunity to work here. I wish you all the best for the future.
Whatever you say, do not make negative statements about your company. Your resignation is offensive enough.
